In 1996, Michael van den Bogerd launched VANDENTECH Engineering Inc., following a successful ten-year
career as a Field Service Engineer at Westinghouse Canada. At the peak of its glory, Westinghouse Field Services
had a unique model in which its field reps were highly trained to work on a wide array of systems and makes and given
complete ownership of their client relationships. The typical field rep had full autonomy to price and quote jobs and
manage all facets of their client orders in addition to providing technical services.
This ingenious business model yielded a highly rewarding career and created some of the best in class field personnel
to ever service the industry. Many entrepreneurs were born out of this model and from this tradition arose
VANDENTECH Engineering Inc., a company committed to the same principles of providing clients a high degree
of personal care and integrity through relationship building, a defining characteristic that garnered not only
the respect of our clients but also of our former associates at Westinghouse, and later Siemens, who continued
to contract our specialty services in power electronics years after our inception. To this day, word-of-mouth
remains a significant contributor to our sales, a testament not just to the quality of our services, but to the
friendships forged over many years through mutual respect and trust.
Our clients have included some of the largest names in industry like Westinghouse, Siemens, Holcim, CRH Cement,
Abitibi-Bowater, Inco (Vale), UCAR, Georgia Pacific, Wesco, Eaton-Electrical, Ipsco, Westvaco, Weyerhaeuser,
Domtar, Hudson Bay Mining, Xstrata Mines, Lehigh Cement, Schneider, Bethlehem Steel, Tolko Manitoba, ABB, and more,
but it is the names and faces of those we had the pleasure of interacting with personally that mattered the most.
We owe a sincere debt of gratitude to our many clients, service providers, and vendors who helped make us what we
are today. Thank you.
In addition to running VANDENTECH Engineering, Michael van den Bogerd has worked as a professor at Niagara College
in Welland, Ontario, Canada. Professor van den Bogerd (a.k.a. "Professor V") taught core diploma
courses in electrical and electronic technology as well as a bachelor’s degree course in Control Systems
Theory for the four-year Photonics program. General courses included introductory electronics and circuit theory,
Operational Amplifiers, PLCs, advanced power electronics,
microcontrollers, AC and DC rotating machines, and three-phase power systems and distribution.
While we continue to offer our traditional services, VANDENTECH will be expanding into educational
markets to address the growing skills shortage in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
To that end, we are rapidly moving to include online courses with our existing site training services to better equip our
clients with the skills and knowledge needed to
meet the challenges of an increasingly complex and technological landscape.
The decline in the quality of post-secondary institutional education has put pressure on
employers to pre-screen applicants for core knowledge and competency and assume greater responsibility for worker training.
Given our years of experience in industry and professional education, VANDENTECH Engineering is uniquely positioned
to address these concerns. We can offer solutions for learning, as well as
help employers construct pre-hiring assessments. Preparing the next generation for the vocational challenges they will face
is our passion and we are eager to engage our clients in growing their skills and knowledge to make that happen.
